The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Supercenter retailer Meijer aimed to increase its customer base and capitalize on the back-to-school season. By reaching out to families with kids in numerous Midwest regions, they intended to raise awareness of their autumn discounts. They also sought to expand their customer base by focusing on those buying at rival retailers.
We used demographic, geographic, and behavioral targeting to focus on Meijer's ideal audience. The secondary audience for the campaign was focused towards families with children who regularly shop at competitors' stores. We designed specialized granular targeting profiles to engage both segments successfully during Meijer's back-to-school promotion.
The expandable banner campaign proved effective as it enabled Meijer to not only reach their target audience but also increase their consumer base by 25% during their fall back-to-school specials. The click-through rate (CTR) of 0.35% exceeded industry standards, and the campaign maintained 70%+ viewability. Targeting families with children during the busy fall shopping season made them more likely to become loyal Meijer customers.
